The Great Debate! To RETWIST or not to RETWIST your Locs.

Retwisting your dreadlocks, or locs, is important for a few reasons:

  1. Maintaining shape: Retwisting helps to keep your dreadlocks tight and maintain their shape. Over time, the hair in the dreadlocks can start to loosen, which can cause them to unravel or lose their shape. Regular retwisting can help prevent this.

  2. Removing tangles and lint: Retwisting can help remove tangles and lint that can build up in the dreadlocks over time. This can improve the overall appearance and health of your hair.

  3. Encourage healthy growth: Retwisting helps redistribute natural oils throughout your dreadlocks, which can encourage healthy hair growth.

  4. Creating New Growth: If you're looking to grow your dreadlocks, retwisting the roots can help encourage new growth.

  5. Aesthetics: Retwisting can help keep the dreadlocks looking neat and tidy, which can improve their overall appearance.

At Locs' Brew we are team rewist but don't worry we won't hold it against you; if you don't rewist at all or Reteist twice a year. All is welcome here.

It's important to note that the frequency of retwisting required can vary depending on the individual and the type of hair. Some people may need to retwist their dreadlocks every few weeks, while others may only need to do it every few months. A good way to determine the frequency of retwisting is to pay attention to how your hair looks and feels, and adjust as needed. It's also worth consulting a stylist that has experience with locs to determine a suitable retwist schedule and technique.
